Living Legends

The Living Legends Film

The Living Legends film reflects on the illustrious career of the Clark Brothers and offers a nostalgic look into the golden age of black variety entertainment history. Other stars who, like the Clark Brothers, soared to great heights on both sides of the Atlantic are also brought into the frame to give a fasinating glimpse into this bygone era.

Steve Clark takes us from his childhood memories in Philadelphia to Harlem and the Cotton Club, working with Bill Robinson, meeting Marian Anderson and life with his cousin Sammy Davis Junior. The film follows Steve on his journey to England on the Queen Mary performing with Gracie Fields and his numerous appearances on the West End stage and Saturday night TV specials with Dickie Henderson and Max Bygraves at the London Palladium.

The Living Legends film reminiscences introduce us to Peter Pritchard, OBE, who worked for the Grade Agency and was the Clark Brothers’ agent; Grace Kennedy who had her own Variety show on TV; Variety and West End Star Miquel Brown of Bubbling Brown Sugar fame; Jess Conrad, 60’s Pop Idol; Rosalie Kirkman from the Tiller Girls; Junior Lanian, Actor / Tap Dancer; and Mark Fox, Advertising Manager for Really Useful Theatres Group.

Steve’s priceless memories are intertwined by a rich treasure trove of personal collectables, artefacts, photos, film footage and playbills from the collections of Steve Clark and Leon Robinson.
