One of the key elements of this project was the collaboration with Hackney Empire’s Artist Development Programme to hold a ‘living’ exhibition, culminating in a show directed by Susie McKenna on 15th August 2014 and presented in the Hackney Empire Main House to a capacity crowd of over 1,000 audience members.

The real magic of this performance though was in the development. The young people were taken through a series of ‘immersive workshopping’, where the rehearsal space walls were covered with posters, programmes, costumes and film footage of the Clark Brothers, as well as other artists of their time. Leon and Steve then gave them lectures on the history of the Black presence in the UK’s showbusiness history and then the life and times of The Clark Brothers.
